National Road Safety Week Poster Competition

By entering the National Road Safety Week Poster Competition (Competition), the Entrant agrees to the following Terms & Conditions;

General – Terms and Conditions

Entry

  1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry. By entering this Competition, the Entrant acknowledges and accepts that they agree with the Terms and Conditions.
  2. Entry is only open to students in Years 10, 11 or 12.
  3. The Entrant warrants that all information provided in the entry is true and correct.
  4. The Entrant warrants and represents that they are over the age of 18, or if they are under the age of 18, they have obtained the permission of their parent/guardian to enter, and that they have full power and capacity and authority to accept these Terms and Conditions.
  5. Employees and immediate family of RSAC and their associated agencies are ineligible to enter / win. Whether a person is eligible under this clause will be determined by RSAC at its absolute discretion.
  6. The RSAC reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry. If an entry / prize winner is disqualified, another winner will be identified as soon as practical.
  7. Only one entry per person will be valid. Entries must be received between 9am 15 March 2024 and 5 p.m. on 31 May 2024 (‘competition period’).
  8. The RSAC shall not be responsible for lost or misdirected entries, computer malfunctions, or any technical failures, including but not limited to electronic malfunction, partial or incomplete computer transmissions, or damage to any network, hardware, or software. Furthermore, the RSAC shall not be liable for any direct or consequential loss or damage suffered as a result of entering the Competition or winning the prize.
  9. The Entrant will be asked to provide a contact / age and school information where relevant.
  10. The Entrant consents to the RSAC publishing their poster and their name in a public forum, which will be managed in accordance with the Publication and Privacy Statement.
  11. The RSAC reserves the right to:
    (a) vary, amend or alter these conditions of entry at any time or;
    (b) terminate the Competition at any time.
  12. If these conditions are varied or amended, they will be posted on the National Road Safety Week page on the RSAC website. Entrants must keep themselves informed of any changes to these conditions of entry or the termination of the promotion.
  13. There is no fee to enter the Competition. However, any costs associated with accessing and entering the competition is the Entrant’s responsibility.

Content

  1. By entering this Competition, the Entrant warrants:
    • that their submitted poster has not previously been published or submitted in any other competition.
    • that their poster is original work and does not infringe the rights, including but not limited to, intellectual property rights or moral rights, or any third party.
    • they have received all required permissions for any images and display of the content of their submitted poster.
    • the entry is not offensive, illegal, obscene or pornographic.

Prize Conditions

  1. The winners will be notified by email or phone by close of business on 12 June 2024
  2. The prize will lapse and the winner/s will forfeit the prize if not claimed within seven days of the winner/s being notified.
  3. If the prize winners cannot be contacted within 7 days of selection, or the prize otherwise remains unclaimed as per Clause 16, the winner forfeits all claims to the prize and the selection panel may then award the prize to the next highest scoring Entrant, in accordance with clause 23.
  4. Any entry received outside of the Competition period will be ineligible to win a prize.
  5. The RSAC takes no responsibility where it is unable to contact prize winners who have not provided correct or complete contact details. If an entrant’s contact details change during the Competition period, it is the entrant’s responsibility to notify the RSAC.
  6. Three winners will be selected. Prizes will be allocated to first, second and third place. The prize provides the winner with $1000 for first prize, $500 for second prize and $250 for third prize. RACT will provide a number of random prizes of driving lessons or roadside service packages. These prizes are not exchangeable or redeemable for cash or transferrable.
  7. All prizes are valued in Australian dollars unless expressly stated to the contrary.
  8. Winners will be selected by a panel of three Department of State Growth staff and be appointed by the RSAC in its absolute discretion.
  9. Entries will be assessed against the following criteria:
    1. Creativity and Quality of Design – 25%
      Is the poster original, does it reflect research and show the ability of the author to use their imagination?
    2. Adherence to theme – 25%
      Does the poster clearly reflect the theme?
    3. Originality of work – 20%
      Is the poster distinguishable from reproductions, clones, or copies? Is it eye catching?
    4. Visual appearance?- 25%
      Does the poster tell a story?
    5. Reason for submission – 5%
      Has the student demonstrated thoughtfulness behind their reason for submission
  1. The RSAC’s decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered in to.
  2. If the winner of a prize is under 18 years of age, RSAC may require that the winner’s parent or guardian confirms acceptance of the prize and nominated bank account.
  3. A prize winner is responsible for any tax consequences in respect to the prize received.

Grant of Rights

  1. All entries become the property of the RSAC. As a condition of entering into this Competition, the Entrant agrees to assign all their rights in and to their entry and any related content to the RSAC, including any copyright or other intellectual property rights in the entry and related content. Without limiting this, the RSAC may use entry content for any and all purposes including commercial purposes. The Entrant warrants that the entry content is original, lawful and not misleading and that the RSAC’s use of such content will not infringe the rights of any third parties. Entrants agree to indemnify the RSAC against all claims and costs by third parties arising from a breach of the warranty set out in this condition. The RSAC has no obligation to credit the Entrant as the author of any content submitted and may otherwise do any acts or omissions which would otherwise constitute an infringement of any moral rights you may have as an author of content.

Publication and Privacy Statement

  1. The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this Competition will be handled in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act 2004 (Tas).
  2. The personal information collected will be used for the purposes of facilitating the conduct of the Competition and awarding any prizes, including to third parties involved and relevant authorities, and attributing winner’s names and school to their entry on the RSAC website.
  3. In addition, the RSAC may for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised, use the personal information for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes.
