Since 1 August, 2022 the road rule requiring motorists to slow down to 40 km/h when passing emergency vehicles like police, fire and ambulances, also applies to roadside assistance vehicles with flashing yellow lights. When approaching or passing a roadside assistance vehicle with yellow lights flashing, you must also slow down to 40 km/h to protect our roadside assistance workers.

In speed zones over 80 km/h, if it’s not safe to slow down to 40 km/h you must slow down as safely as possible and avoid braking suddenly.
