Rural roads make up 80 per cent of the Tasmanian road network. Two thirds of our fatal and serious crashes occur on rural roads, and speed is often a factor.

Tasmania’s rural roads are often narrow and windy, and affected by weather conditions. If it’s raining, the roads are wet, or icy, or night time, or a road you are unfamiliar with; slow down and drive to the conditions.
