Drive 4 Us & Others – Road Safety Awareness Walk | Waratah-Wynyard Council | Saturday 17th May |
Join Waratah-Wynyard Council for Drive for Us & Others, a meaningful 5km walk in recognition of National Road Safety Week. Starting from Wynyard Yacht Club, the event will be hosted by Deputy Mayor Celisa Edwards, who will bravely share her personal story of loss and her call for safer roads. We’ll also hear from Kelly Dernehl, CEO of New Mornings, on living with grief and available support, along with speakers from Burnie City Council, TAS SES – Wynyard Unit, and Tasmania Police. 📍 Wynyard Yacht Club |
Various Events | Circular Head Council | Saturday 11th May to Sunday 18th May | During National Road Safety Week, Circular Head Council will host a series of activities: daily-changing messages on two VMS boards, lighting the Celebration Tree yellow, a cupcake giveaway in the Smithton CBD (led by the Circular Head Community Road Safety Committee), Council staff wearing yellow, and daily posts on Council’s social media and website to promote road safety awareness. |

Your Speed Matters | George Town | Sunday 11th May to Sunday 18th May | George Town Council will create a visual impact for our drivers in the area – on the entry/exit of our town to the highway we are reminding our community and visitors that “Your Speed Matters” with large ribbon on mass display with the National Road Safety Week ribbons and stickers. The Mayor will also do a radio interview regarding National Road Safety Week. |

Your Road Safety Pledge | Hobart Airport arrivals | Monday 12th May | Pledge posters with QR codes linking to the Road Safety Pledge will be set up in the Arrivals hall of Hobart Airport – You can also pledge online today to make a difference on the roads |
Your Speed Matters | Huon Valley Council | Monday 12th May | Aimed towards our community and visitors to the Huon Valley area to be held at a location that is visual and regularly used e.g. Woolworths carpark Huon Highway, Huonville.
All events will include a combination of participation by SES, TasPol, Learn to Drive providers and our Mayor, Sally Doyle. We will provide information (posters/flyers), visual displays (SES trailer, Police highway car) and distribution of NRSW ribbons. |
Get Home from Work Safe | Huon Valley Council | Wednesday 14th May | Aimed towards our staff and contractors to be held at the Huonville Town Hall for breakfast prior to teams starting their day.

Road Safety has Every Age | Huon Valley Council | Thursday 15th May | Aimed towards our local high school students, whether they are L or P plate drivers or about to be, to be held at schools in Huonville, Cygnet & Dover.

Make safety a priority not an option | Tasman Council | Friday 16th May | Keep your car safe: Mostly aimed at youth but open to any member of the public. Classes on changing tyres – checking tyre pressure – general safety of cars before they are taken on the road. Even how to open the bonnet on your car. Talks from local SES volunteers – Talk from local police on driving on rural roads at night etc. |
On the same path | Kingborough Council | Friday 16th May | Join us at Dru Point Park, Margate, for a fun, family-friendly event focused on sharing paths and path safety! Held along the Children’s Bike Path – complete with real road signs, working traffic lights, and roundabouts – the event will feature a road safety info stall, a yellow lolly guessing competition, and giveaways like ribbons and car stickers. It’s a perfect setting to spark conversations about road signs, safe riding, and how to share paths safely. |
Safe in the Southern Midlands | Southern Midlands Council | Wednesday 14th May | Southern Midlands Council are hosting a multi-agency road safety event at St Peters Pass with Tasmania Police, Roads and Transport, and SES. Drivers can voluntarily stop for random breath tests, car checks, and vehicle weigh-ins, while learning how these agencies support road safety and respond to incidents. Council will provide a free BBQ with soft drinks, and a coffee van will be on-site. |
Cycle Safety | Hobart City Council | Sunday 11th May | Hobart City Council are launching a cyclist safety campaign for Hobart, supporting the City of Hobart Transport Strategy and the National Road Safety Awareness Campaign. The focus is on promoting safe cycling, respectful sharing of roads and paths, and raising awareness among all road users to help keep cyclists safe. |
